A County Durham brewery that caters for beer drinkers with wheat intolerance is set for expansion outside the region after teaming up with a top London distribution firm.

Seaham-based Autumn Brewing Co has already seen demand for its gluten-free drinks increase after investing in two dedicated fermentors at its Castle Eden Brewery, serving up a significant increase in its brewing capacity and capability.

Now the firm is developing distribution opportunities outside the North East as a result of a tie up with London based Dam Tasty Beer.

The microbrewery entered the “free from” market in February when it first started producing gluten-free beer for drinkers unable to enjoy traditional beers, making its two beers – Alt Brew No.01Bavarian Style Pilsner and Alt brew No.02 English Pale Ale – with grains such as rice, millet and quinoa instead of barley.

Its two new 3,500 litre fermenting vessels have now been installed, commissioned and are ready to ferment their first brews.
