Andrew James, the award-winning online retailer currently based in Bowburn, have commissioned their new distribution centre at Foxcover Enterprise Park in Seaham, ready for a fully operational launch in early 2017.
Once up and running it will be capable of dispatching 28,000 orders per day, and supports the company growth plan which recently saw them engage architects for the redevelopment of their new Head Office at Lighthouse View, Seaham.
Having purchased both properties in 2014, they have spent the last two years and over £10m turning the Distribution Centre into one of the most hi-tech, cutting edge in the UK.
Following years of exceptional growth, Andrew James broke the £20m turnover mark for the 2nd consecutive year in 2015, and following serious investment in their distribution centre, recently started receipting stock and dispatching orders from Foxcover.
The Foxcover premises will also allow them to act as a third party ‘Pick and Pack’ distribution centre for other companies, and recently finalised an agreement with their first third party client. Andrew James are actively looking to establish relationships with other organisations who wish to take advantage of this service.
This is already proving to be a very exciting time for Andrew James, not only have they recently launched a new website, but they are also working alongside renowned national brands such as Tesco and Daily Mail to develop a significant presence on their sales platforms too – again a sign of their future ambitions.
All of this provides the company with increased exposure and lays the foundations for further growth. Another massive move will see them relocate their head office to the nearby Spectrum Business Park. The new offices will also have space available for other businesses to lease, and they have one tenant already with flexible office space available to suit a range of businesses.
Keith Roberts, Head of Digital and CRM at Andrew James said, “Getting Foxcover online is a massive boost for Andrew James – to get the new distribution centre commissioned and operational ahead of the Christmas period is a great opportunity for the company to end the year on a high, and begin 2017 with a bang!
This is a culmination of a lot of hard work from across the organisation, and to see it come to fruition is a real feather in the cap for all concerned. Our new premise will allow us to set ourselves up as an outsourced option for warehousing, distribution, media and customer services. Once we complete our move to Lighthouse next year, our opportunities for further growth will only increase.”
