There are six new members joining the team at Dalton Park this winter as the centre announces surprising news of a reindeer adoption.
Following the news that the Christmas launch event won’t be going ahead this year due to Covid-19, and with reindeers being a well-loved part of the festivities, Dalton Park decided to continue to their long-standing support of the herd and have adopted a ‘Christmas team’.
The six reindeers, from the Cairngorm Reindeer Herd, are part of Britain’s only free-ranging herd of reindeer found in the Cairngorm mountains in Scotland. Members of the herd have visited Dalton Park as part of the centre’s Christmas launch event every year since opening. Dalton Park will be posting details of the adoption on its website with further details about the herd.
Jerry Hatch Dalton Park’s Centre Manager, said: “Our Christmas launch event is always a magical highlight for our store staff and the local community signifying the start of our Christmas celebrations.
“We know the news of the event not going ahead will be disappointing to our loyal guests and we hope our adopted reindeers will bring a smile and festive cheer to lots of people.”
“Our centre team has worked hard to ensure our Christmas grotto can go ahead, complying with strict safety guidance. We still hope and plan on Santa’s grotto being able to open in December once lockdown restrictions lift.
Details on Dalton Park’s Christmas grotto experience will be posted on the centre website soon: dalton-park.co.uk
